\u00a0You bring us such a variety of delectable little fruits and veggies, some that are only in season and available for a few weeks! \u00a0Figs are one of those little gifts from God. \u00a0I saw them at my farmer&#8217;s market two weeks ago, and Sunday I bought a basket. \u00a0Tender little nuggets of sweet pink flesh, hidden under an unassuming brown skin, figs are a sweet treat! \u00a0If you&#8217;ve only ever had them in Fig Newton form, try this recipe for <strong>Bacon-Wrapped Figs<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>Simple ingredients, simple preparation &#8211; so easy! \u00a0Look for figs that are a little soft, but not squishy. \u00a0These little bites are sweet and salty and kind of rich, so you don&#8217;t need to eat a dozen to feel satisfied. \u00a0Try them with a green salad for a light lunch, or with some sparkling wine as an appetizer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_13774\" style=\"width: 332px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Bacon-Wrapped-Fig.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13774\" class=\" wp-image-13774  \" alt=\"Bite-sized bacon goodness!\" src=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Bacon-Wrapped-Fig-767x1024.jpg\" width=\"322\" height=\"430\" srcset=\"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Bacon-Wrapped-Fig-767x1024.jpg 767w, https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Bacon-Wrapped-Fig-224x300.jpg 224w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 322px) 100vw, 322px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-13774\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bite-sized bacon goodness!<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>Bacon-Wrapped Figs<\/h2>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 13px;\">6 ripe figs<\/span><\/li>\n<li>6 slices bacon<\/li>\n<li>6 teaspoons cream cheese<\/li>\n<li>fresh-ground black pepper<\/li>\n<li>optional: honey<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Directions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 13px;\">Preheat oven to 400*F. \u00a0Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Rinse off figs and pat dry. \u00a0With a knife, trim off the little stem nub at the top and slice in half lengthwise, so you have 12 halves. \u00a0Cut the bacon in half so you have 12 short pieces.<\/li>\n<li>To assemble: \u00a0Place half a teaspoon of cream cheese on top of each fig half. \u00a0Season with a grind or two of black pepper. \u00a0If you want them sweeter, add a drop of honey on top of the cream cheese. \u00a0I didn&#8217;t use honey and mine were delicious, but it&#8217;s up to you how sweet you want them. \u00a0Wrap each cream cheese-topped fig in bacon. \u00a0I wrapped them so the open end is underneath the fig, but some had the open end on top and it didn&#8217;t unravel. \u00a0You could use toothpicks if you are worried they won&#8217;t stay wrapped in the oven, but mine were fine without. \u00a0Lay the bacon-fig bundles on the baking sheet.<\/li>\n<li>Bake for 20 minutes. \u00a0Turn off the oven and let them figs rest for 5 more minutes in the oven. \u00a0Take them out and serve hot. \u00a0Watch your fingers!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Explore, experiment, enjoy!<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 Dana<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>To view even more of Dana\u2019s unique recipe, you can visit her at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/frugalgirlmet.blogspot.com\/\">Frugal Girlmet<\/a>!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ah summer!
