{"id":1039,"date":"2012-08-07T22:26:57","date_gmt":"2012-08-08T03:26:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/?p=1039"},"modified":"2013-01-24T17:47:36","modified_gmt":"2013-01-24T22:47:36","slug":"resolution-for-women-shhhhh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/2012\/08\/07\/resolution-for-women-shhhhh\/","title":{"rendered":"Resolution for Women: Shhhhh"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\">Our Memory Verse<\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u00a0 Luke 6:45<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8220;Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>WOW\u00a0Ladies!\u00a0\u00a0How many of you can relate to the picture above? \u00a0 Be honest, be really really honest&#8230;&#8230;Well?\u00a0 No, you have to be really honest!\u00a0\u00a0Can you?\u00a0 \u00a0Okay, I&#8217;ll admit &#8211; I can.\u00a0\u00a0 But&#8230;..if you don&#8217;t agree, can you at least agree that\u00a0talking is one of the things women do best &#8211; We TALK. We love to talk!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We talk about everything and talk some more.\u00a0\u00a0 Many times we talk before we think.\u00a0 We talk when we should just be quiet &#8211; when we should pray.\u00a0 We like to talk.\u00a0 It&#8217;s in our blood!<\/p>\n<p>Have you been in situations where you have been listening to people talk and they are excited about being the first to tell someone something?\u00a0 They absolutely love being the person to share news or happenings &#8211; they enjoy being in the position of getting\u00a0noticed for what they are telling and talking about\u00a0&#8211; even if its negative.\u00a0\u00a0 This is certainly not wisdom and can be rather embarrassing for her and those around her.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Wisdom &#8211; knowing what to say and not saying it&#8221;\u00a0&#8211; This is the definition Priscilla shares with us in our book. How many times have we been in situations where\u00a0we said things when we should have just kept our mouth shut. Let&#8217;s face it ladies, for the majority of us, this happens quite often, or DID, before we met Jesus\u00a0and began to learn wisdom.<\/p>\n<p>With me, when I started building a relationship with Jesus Christ and started studying The Word, I too realized that I talk way too much (hold your laugh) and\u00a0unfortunately not all of it would bring glory to our Father.\u00a0\u00a0My husband was forever telling me I needed to &#8216;hush&#8217;; \u00a0I was talking too much, telling too much, and it would be better for all if I just stopped talking. Truth be told, he was right many times &#8211; Yes, I hate to admit it, but the Hubby was right.<\/p>\n<p>I love the way Priscilla writes about this subject.\u00a0 The following, shared by Priscilla in our chapter, really struck me personally.\u00a0 When you read these statements what were your thoughts?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Silence is our friend. Silence is our strength<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0\u00a0 I love this!\u00a0 It&#8217;s amazing what we can do with silence now that we have a\u00a0 relationship with Jesus.\u00a0\u00a0 Silence IS our friend and IS our strength!\u00a0 All we have to do is utilize it, all to glorify Him.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A woman who is quick to listen is one who gathers up all the information before releasing her reaction.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>WOW &#8211; YES!\u00a0\u00a0 This is my goal!\u00a0 How about you!?<\/li>\n<li><strong>When she speaks, her advice and assessments are sensible and sober. Prudent and purposeful.<\/strong>\u00a0 &#8211; these sisters represent WISDOM &#8211; Wisdom is a blessing!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In God&#8217;s Word, sweet sisters, it is made clear.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We need to stop and listen to the direction of our Father before acting or discussing a situation.\u00a0 We need to remember that words DO have power &#8211; and not all power will glorify our Lord and Savior. We need to pray more and talk less.\u00a0 We need to remember that we are children of the King.\u00a0 We need to reach out and take hold of the wisdom\u00a0we know comes from our Heavenly Father ~ and actively display this Wisdom in every situation.\u00a0 We need to grow in the quiet.\u00a0\u00a0 I challenge you to read the following scriptures and become convicted by the words written especially for us.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8216;&#8230;..the tongue of the righteous is pure silver&#8217;\u00a0 Proverbs 10:20<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8216;The tongue has the power of life and death&#8217;\u00a0 Proverbs 18:21<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8216;Be still and know that I am God&#8217;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Psalms 46:10<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Remember, <strong>Silence is our Friend.\u00a0 Silence is our Strength<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em><strong>Your Assignment: <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">What would immediately change for the better in your life if you began exercising the spiritual restraint of silence?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">Try it for just a day or two.\u00a0 Deliberately keep from saying something that&#8217;s better left unsaid.\u00a0 Allow the bait of another&#8217;s unkind or inappropriate remark to land without hooking a response from you.\u00a0 Record what you observe about yourself and the change in the dynamics around you.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>____________________<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Let&#8217;s Pray:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Dear Lord,<\/p>\n<p>Father God thank you for the blessing of silence.\u00a0 Change our hearts so that we may use this silence to prepare our words and actions in such\u00a0ways to bring glory to you in all we do.\u00a0 In addition, may we remember the power of words and the damage it can cause, as well as the praises it may bring.\u00a0 Thank you for\u00a0these blessings.\u00a0 Thank you for each sister here.
