{"id":10042,"date":"2013-03-02T00:01:58","date_gmt":"2013-03-02T05:01:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/?p=10042"},"modified":"2013-03-01T12:23:55","modified_gmt":"2013-03-01T17:23:55","slug":"seeking-him-quietness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/2013\/03\/02\/seeking-him-quietness\/","title":{"rendered":"Seeking Him &#8211; Quietness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week in our current series,<i> <b>Seeking Him<\/b><\/i>, we continue to look at one of the joys (and privilege!) of our relationship with our heavenly Father\u2014our \u2018quiet time\u2019 with Him.\u00a0 Each Saturday we have been looking in-depth at some of the more important aspects of a dedicated, purposeful, intentional, devoted quiet time.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past few weeks we have thought about a few of these aspects, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>reading the Scriptures<\/li>\n<li>singing our praises<\/li>\n<li>being intentional\u2014seeking Him<\/li>\n<li>physically expressing ourselves: cry, kneel, raise hands, etc.<\/li>\n<li>speaking out our \u2018love\u2019<\/li>\n<li>praying<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition to each of these, I do believe that <em><strong>quietness<\/strong><\/em> is required as a major component of a dedicated, purposeful, intentional, devoted quiet time.\u00a0 Actual physical-absence-of-distracting-noise <strong>quiet<\/strong>&#8230;and perhaps even more important&#8230;<strong>quietness in our hearts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Our Lord recognized His need for quiet.\u00a0 If He, in His perfect sinless life, needed quiet time alone&#8230;we do also and even more so!\u00a0 His example speaks clearly to us.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">And in the morning, long before daylight, He got up and went out to a deserted place,<br \/>\nand there He prayed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Mark 1:35<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8230;and great crowds gathered to hear him and to be healed of their infirmities.<br \/>\nBut he would withdraw to desolate places and pray.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Luke 5:15, 16<\/p>\n<p>There is also another type of <em>quietness<\/em>\u2014a <strong>quiet, peaceful heart<\/strong>.\u00a0 Isn&#8217;t this something that\u00a0each of us yearns for?\u00a0\u00a0Truly I believe it can only be found as we <strong>seek Him<\/strong>.\u00a0 There is a incomparable <em>quietness<\/em> that we are promised as we trust in our Lord.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Be still <i>and<\/i> rest in the Lord; wait for Him <i>and<\/i> patiently lean yourself upon Him;<br \/>\nfret not yourself because of him who prospers in his way,<br \/>\nbecause of the man who brings wicked devices to pass.<br \/>\nCease from anger and forsake wrath;<br \/>\nfret not yourself\u2014it tends only to evildoing.<br \/>\nFor evildoers shall be cut off,<br \/>\nbut those who wait <i>and<\/i> hope <i>and<\/i> look for the Lord<br \/>\nshall inherit the earth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Psalms 37:7-9<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Be still, and know that I am God.<br \/>\nI will be exalted among the nations,<br \/>\nI will be exalted in the earth!&#8221;<br \/>\nThe Lord of hosts is with us;<br \/>\nthe God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Psalms 46:10 and 11<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden <i>and<\/i> overburdened,<br \/>\nand I will cause you to rest.
